If your interior seems incomplete or you are just finishing furnishing your new apartment, but it is still missing “that something”, we have a proposal for a quick, cheap and simple solution that will work for any type of interior. Decorative ceiling moldings can be the missing element that will diversify your home space, enrich the aesthetics of the interior and add a proverbial flair to the arrangement.

The variety of ceiling strips available on the market means that everyone can find something for themselves that suits their individual needs and arrangement style. From classic, smooth models, through richly decorated ones, to modern strips with LED lighting – the choice is huge and varied. Thanks to this, interior finishing becomes not only a practical matter, but also an expression of personal style and taste. Ceiling moldings not only mask imperfections where the wall meets the ceiling, but also become an independent decoration that can completely change the perception of a room, adding elegance and a unique atmosphere to it.

The role of decorative ceiling moldings in interior design

Ceiling strips, often overlooked in the past, are gaining importance year by year as interesting decorative elements in contemporary interior design. Until recently, finishing strips were considered mainly an attribute of styles that value splendor and elegance, such as modern classic or glamor. However, we are observing a change – a growing trend in the popularity of ceiling decorations, which is confirmed by the upcoming trends for 2024. The growing role and focus on decorating the ceiling – a previously forgotten space – brings freshness and uniqueness to interior design.

However, before we decide to add decorative ceiling strips to our interior, it is worth considering the functions of these decorative elements.

The first advantage is the ability to aesthetically mask unpainted paint or the edges of wall wallpaper on the line where the ceiling and the wall join. This is often a problematic place where assembly errors can negatively affect the overall effect of the arrangement. Properly selected decorative strips will effectively cover such shortcomings, providing a “clean”, refined and highly aesthetic interior finish.

Ceiling stucco also plays an important role in visually enlarging and extending the interior, which is especially valuable in the case of small rooms or those with low ceilings. To achieve the best effect, it is worth using a combination of skirting and ceiling strips in the room arrangement and then painting them in the color of the walls. Thanks to this, you can achieve the effect of optically “raising” the ceiling and lengthening the walls, which makes the interior seem more spacious. Mardom Decor strips are covered with a matte primer with smoothing properties and making it easier to paint in any color using solvent-free paints. They do not require additional priming, so you can start painting almost immediately after installation.

The use of ceiling strips with an appropriate profile allows not only to aesthetically hide cables and wires, but also to elegantly arrange lighting using LED strips, which are increasingly installed around the entire perimeter of the room. LightGuard® technology, used in Mardom Decor stucco, ensures that the light is evenly dispersed and the diodes do not penetrate the material. The possibility of choosing models with shapes that emphasize the character of the room makes ceiling strips not only functional, but also a clearly decorative element of any arrangement.

Ceiling strips are also great for softening the geometric forms of the interior, matching current interior design trends that promote ovals, arches and curves. Choosing stucco with a concave, arched shape allows you to achieve the desired effect of “softening” edges and lines, giving the space a more organic character.

In the kitchen, ceiling strips can act as a blind or cover, especially when the upper cabinets do not reach the ceiling, leaving an unsightly gap. This treatment allows you to aesthetically mask and hide this difficult-to-use space, preventing dust accumulation and making it easier to keep clean.

Various forms and functions of decorative ceiling elements

Wall strips are just one of the options that allow you to create an effective ceiling arrangement. Modern interior stucco offers many more solutions, and in the face of upcoming trends, we present several proposals that will delight every lover of beautiful interiors. The first is the use of curtain rods also as ceiling stucco. It’s a simple method, but many customers ask us about this possibility, so we thought it was worth mentioning 🙂 Stucco installed in this way will ensure the coherence of the space. Additionally, you can install an LED strip with it, turning ordinary strips into lighting strips.

In addition to traditional ceiling stucco, it is worth considering the use of wall moldings. Who said that decorative wall moldings must only be vertical? Thanks to the lightweight structure, it is possible to easily transfer stucco from the walls to the ceiling, creating unique patterns or subtle accents. Decorative strips can also be combined with dedicated corners to enhance our arrangement even more.

Ceiling rosettes are another element that works perfectly as a decoration. They are a classic, but still current solution that adds chic and elegance to the room. Rosettes can be the focal point of the ceiling, especially when combined with a chandelier or other light source, creating an eye-catching composition.

In turn, lamellas, used as a decorative element of the ceiling, introduce additional structure to the interior. By choosing the white version, you can create a delicate accent, while the wooden versions can successfully imitate wooden beams, which fit perfectly with cottage and industrial styles, adding a masculine character to the interior. An interesting alternative are wall panels that stand out from other options thanks to their unusual shapes. However, these are very expressive elements, so they require precise space planning.

White wall panels and slats are available in two finishes: matte, covered with primer paint (prepared for painting), and in a satin version, covered with high-quality SupremeSatin® varnish – the same as our white floor strips. The primer paint is RAL 9003.

Mardom Decor stucco is made of proprietary PolyForce material. It is extruded polystyrene characterized by high density, and therefore high durability while maintaining low weight. Styrofoam ceiling strips are light, but very susceptible to dents. Mardom Decor polymer stucco is a perfect replacement. In addition, strips made of PolyForce are resistant to moisture, UV radiation and mechanical damage. PolyForce enables easy processing and installation of stucco, which makes it an ideal choice for people looking for practical, but at the same time aesthetic solutions for interior decoration.

Skirting board as a ceiling decoration? Which skirting boards should you choose?

Modern skirting boards, often associated only with functional floor finishing, in fact have a much wider application. At Mardom Decor, we offer multifunctional skirting boards that have been designed for multiple uses – they can be used both on the ceiling line, on the wall, and traditionally as white skirting boards. The choice of the appropriate pattern and profile depends on our expectations and the specificity of the interior architecture. By choosing this type of floor strips, we gain the opportunity to create a uniform and coherent arrangement.

Additionally, Mardom Decor floor strips are equipped with ScratchShield® technology, which provides them with additional resistance to damage. This is the maximum hardening of the surface, thanks to which the strips become more resistant to scratches and dents, becoming a perfect solution for those who are looking for additional reinforcement. Additionally, complete water resistance makes Mardom Decor skirting profiles a much more durable and universal solution than the popular MDF skirting boards. It is a perfect solution for decorating the kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom.
