Boho is a light interior design style, full of light and positive energy, in which we should feel lightness of form and complete relaxation. It might seem that elegant stucco in the boho style is a kind of antonym and is completely inappropriate for decorating this type of rooms. Or maybe it is? Let’s find out 😉

Boho is a unique character of interiors that easily combines various decorative elements, drawing heavily on eclecticism. Let’s check whether the elements of classic interior stucco work equally well in casual interiors as in more formal arrangements.

What is the boho style?

The boho style is distinguished primarily by its freedom and lightness, it is a combination of elements from different cultures and eras. It is characterized by a casual approach to arrangement, in which the central place is occupied by decorative elements that bring an excellent visual effect to the space. The arrangements are definitely not minimalist, in this style details count – curtains, blankets, rugs, pillows, paintings and many others. There is no single dominant style. The key feature of this style is a rich color palette dominated by both intense and subdued colors, combined in a way that stimulates the imagination and promotes relaxation. Neutral walls in the form of warm beiges and natural textures in the interior become an excellent base for combining various textures, expressive patterns and various architectural trends.

Wall stucco can play a key role in this context, adding nobility and elegance to the room, while maintaining the lightness and freedom characteristic of this style. The use of stucco in contrasting colors or subtle, natural shades allows you to create a unique atmosphere that is both artistic and cozy.

Wall stucco – boho interior decoration ideas

The boho style is synonymous with warm, light-filled spaces, where each decorative element plays a key role in creating a harmonious atmosphere. In this context, decorative strips become not only a decorative element of interior design, but also a functional element. Ceiling stucco can be used to mask small surface irregularities or unpainted wall elements at the junction with the ceiling. In turn, ceiling curtain rod strips will quickly and easily mask an unsightly curtain rod, without the need for time-consuming renovation. But that’s not all.

By using ceiling finishing strips and LED curtain rods, we can achieve interior coherence while ensuring effective and practical room lighting. LED lights installed around our room with the ability to control the light intensity can act as both the main light source in the room and an atmospheric element that will emphasize the boho character of the interior. LED stucco has LightGuard® technology, which prevents diodes from shining through the surface, ensuring an aesthetic visual effect. For the boho style, it is worth choosing strips with delicate curves that will harmonize harmoniously with the rest of the arrangement.

LED stucco can also be used in the lower part of our room. In this case, skirting boards with a simple, minimalist form, without additional decorations or milling, will be perfect.

Boho loves paintings and posters in decorative frames. To emphasize them even more, you can create thin, stucco frames from strips. Double or single – screens made of single slats will definitely work for smaller rooms, but the arrangement of individual lines depends only on our creativity. The decorative strips we choose should not be overly decorated or ornamental. Small, subtly milled forms will work perfectly. When creating wall frames, remember that the ends of the strips should be cut at a 45-degree angle to create an aesthetic connection. Painting the strips in the color of the wall, e.g. in shades of beige or ecru, will maintain the consistency of the arrangement while adding three-dimensionality and an artistic accent to the walls. Mardom Decor wall strips are covered with a special, matte primer, so they can be painted white or any color with water-based wall paint.

Wall stucco will also work well on other flat surfaces. Internal stucco can also be installed as furniture decoration. Using single slats or entire wall panels, such as Duna and Lumio panels, will add three-dimensionality to the interior, while maintaining a warm, subtle and cozy atmosphere. Thanks to their low weight, wall panels can be used not only on walls, but also as fronts for wardrobes or TV consoles.

Modern wainscoting made of skirting boards will create an informal and warm character in the boho style. The panel version can be created from decorative wall strips, cut off with a finishing strip at the height of 1/3 of the wall, and then painted with any color of wall paint. For example, slats will work well for the panel version. Those from the Lamelli by Mardom Decor collection have a natural, wooden look and structure and shades imitating natural oak. Thanks to this, the interior will retain its natural appearance and warm, cozy character.

All these ideas show how wide the arrangement possibilities of stucco on the wall are, even for the boho style, which at first glance seems to have nothing to do with classic architectural elements. Our ingenuity and creativity are the only limits to creating unique, personal spaces.

Boho style stucco – How to arrange decorative strips in interior design?

Boho interiors are known by freedom and eclecticism, which gives wide arrangement possibilities, also in the context of the use of stucco. It is important to choose wall strips in a similar style, so we should look at our room as a whole, at the sum of all the elements, and not just individual sections or decoration zones.

Wall moldings, ceiling moldings, ceiling moldings, masking curtain rods, wall panels or slats – all the stucco elements we choose should work together to maintain harmony and peace in the interior. It is also worth paying attention to decorative strips whose design refers to naturalness and lightness, while being subtle and not overwhelming.

What to combine boho style with?

Boho style in interior design is a harmonious combination of natural materials, vivid colors, ethnic patterns and an abundance of plants, which together create a unique appearance of the interior. Deep earthy tones such as browns, reds and greens mix here with light, warm colors, creating a cozy and energizing space. Ethnic patterns, both in the form of textiles and other decorative elements, introduce a global accent, emphasizing the eclectic nature of the arrangement. Boho-style stucco can be combined, for example, with decorative wallpapers, creating a specific frame for them and becoming an expressive interior decoration.

Natural materials are key in the boho style – wood, linen, cotton or wicker add warmth and authenticity to the interior. Plants are an integral element of this style, bringing life and freshness to any room. Warm light, both natural and provided by carefully selected lamps, creates an atmosphere of relaxation and peace.

In boho interior design, it is also important to allow yourself for creativity and non-standard solutions. You can combine modern elements with vintage to create a space that is both comfortable and full of character. All these elements work together to create a coherent and unique whole, which is the essence of the boho style.

What interior stucco is the best?

When choosing interior stucco, it is important to consider its purpose and the conditions in which it will be used. We should not install MDF strips in rooms exposed to moisture, such as bathrooms. Polymer stucco, resistant to water absorption, will be ideal. If we care about high aesthetics, detail and precision of workmanship, Styrofoam decorative strips may turn out to be insufficient due to the lack of precision – Styrofoam stucco does not always meet the expectations of a refined appearance and is very susceptible to dents and scratches in the material. Plaster elements are characterized by high precision, but they can be expensive. Polyurethane stucco, in turn, combines the lightness of the material, high quality and precision of workmanship.

Modern Mardom Decor stucco is distinguished by diverse designs and high quality, including resistance to mechanical damage, moisture and UV. The PolyForce material is 100% water-resistant, which allows it to be installed in kitchens or bathrooms, and its resistance to solar radiation means that the strips will not turn yellow even when exposed to intense sunlight. Mardom Decor stucco with the innovative ScratchShield® technology has been additionally hardened and protected against scratches and impacts. Studies show up to 40% greater resistance compared to polymer products without this technology. The PolyForce material from which they are made ensures durability and ease of installation – ordinary assembly glue is enough. Installation of Mardom Decor stucco is quick and intuitive, which is a significant advantage over systems that require dedicated products (such as internal Styrofoam stucco), e.g. to connect NMC stucco elements, an additional product must be purchased for the joints.

When choosing interior stucco, it is important to take into account the conditions and purposes of use. Modern stucco should ensure not only aesthetics and precision of workmanship, but also resistance to mechanical damage and ease of installation, which makes it an ideal choice for various interior arrangements, regardless of the chosen interior style.
