Stucco can be expressive, effective, and even excessively plain and dominant. However, decorative mouldings can also be delicate and minimalistic, which is perfectly visible in the arrangement of a child’s bedroom by Daria Ławrynowicz. Decorative mouldings as a subtle element of modern interior design are a simple way to transform a space. Just look at this beautiful bedroom design, which you will certainly not pass by indifferently.

Wall mouldings, although often underestimated, can become a key element in interior design, adding elegance and sophistication. Properly selected interior mouldings are enough to create a space that is modern, but also stylish and beautiful in its simplicity. Minimalist mouldings used in a child’s bedroom show that simplicity can go hand in hand with refined style, creating cozy and aesthetic interiors that delight with their subtlety and harmony.

Elegance in Simplicity – How Decorative Strips Define Space

Stucco is a very unique decorative element, apart from its aesthetic function, it can play a key role in shaping the space in the interior. A decorative strip mounted vertically along the entire height of the room, in the form of decorative screens in the shape of a slender rectangle, can optically lengthen the room. On the other hand, ceiling and floor strips, properly selected in terms of height and color, have the ability to visually raise or lower the ceiling. A decorative strip mounted horizontally as a transverse frame can, in turn, widen the interior, making it seem larger.

Minimalist arrangement using two strips and color in a children’s bedroom

In the case of this arrangement, the use of stucco was significantly hindered due to the slants in the interior. The choice of installing the stucco at the height of 1/3 of the wall allowed for a beautiful integration with the interior architecture, but also for its installation around the entire perimeter of the room, maintaining symmetry. Importantly, only two strips were used in this arrangement! At 1/3 of the height of the wall, the MD002 Mardom Decor decorative wall strip with decorative milling on the surface and the completely smooth and simple MD013P Mardom Decor skirting board were installed. In combination with pastel paint, this minimalist combination resembles a decorative wainscoting, which introduces a unique accent to the room. Thanks to such details, the decorative wall strip looks almost like an element of a larger whole, when in fact it is the only stucco decoration of the walls.

It is also worth paying attention to the horizontal division of the room using a pink shade of paint. Usually, such a procedure makes the interior lower and the walls are shortened. In this arrangement, however, everything looks impeccable, thanks to the use of a darker shade at the bottom, and a lighter one at the top, in this case white, which smoothly passes to the ceiling, enlarging the interior. It is worth paying attention to this if you are planning English wainscoting or decorative wainscoting in your interior in the future – light colors in the lower part of the room contrasting with the dark color on the walls above will visually cut the surface in half, dividing it and making the room look much smaller than it actually is.

Decorative mouldings in a minimalist bedroom – subtle detail, great effect

Daria Ławrynowicz used decorative strips in the form of a wall cut-off in her arrangement. The combination of this with the colour creates the effect of a minimalist wall panelling. The one in the lower part of the room is finished with a white strip, which refers to the light shade on the ceiling, creating a coherent and closed composition. In this arrangement, nothing was left to chance – each element harmonizes with each other, complementing the whole. A very important factor in creating this space was the possibility of covering both the wall and the stucco with exactly the same colour. Mardom Decor decorative wall strips are covered with a matte primer, which increases the adhesion of the dye to the surface and smoothes their structure. The wall strip is primed, ready to be painted, there is no need to cover it with an additional product. Thanks to this, Mardom Decor decorative wall strips can be easily repainted in any colour, even in such a light and pastel shade. In this arrangement of the children’s bedroom, powder pink was chosen. Pink is a slightly candy-like colour, but positive, associated with safety, idyll and carefreeness. It is quite feminine and delicate, and works well with other pastels, making it perfect for a child’s room or bedroom.

In turn, the Premium decorative skirting boards are covered with SupremeSatin® varnish in the shade RAL 9003. They are immediately paintable, do not require surface protection with paint and blend in perfectly with light walls. Mardom Decor wall strips are non-toxic, suitable for children, and at the same time durable and waterproof. Made of durable PolyForce material in ScratchShield® technology, which makes interior mouldings exceptionally resistant to mechanical damage. This is a great alternative to widely available, store-bought strips, for example – MDF wall strip can swell in contact with water and scratch quickly, and PVC strips look unsightly against the background of a modern and refined arrangement.
