What is the difference between PolyForce® and ProFoam® material?

PolyForce® is an extruded polymer with very high resistance to mechanical damage, full water resistance and high plastic density. Profiles made of PolyForce® have simple shapes, without fine, stucco decorations. The material is fully recyclable.

ProFoam® is the highest quality high-density foamed polyurethane. Deep, sharp and very precise decorations can be created in the material. The plastic is lightweight, so even large ceiling mouldings can be made from it, without the risk of peeling and falling off.

In practice, PolyForce® has a slightly higher resistance to damage than ProFoam®. Profiles made of PolyForce® that have LightGuard® technology can be used with LED lighting.

What is the difference between standard and premium slats?

The mouldings in the standard matte version are covered with the highest quality primer paint during production. Thanks to this, the molding is additionally protected, smoothed and prepared for the application of subsequent layers of paint after gluing. Primer is applied to all types of mouldings: baseboards, wall mouldings, ceiling mouldings, lighting mouldings and curtain mouldings.

Mardom Decor Premium is an exclusive line dedicated to skirting boards. The profiles are covered with a layer of special topcoat, which gives them a perfect satin finish. Premium skirting boards are a ready-made product for direct installation, without the need to paint them. In addition to the ideal visual effect, Mardom Decor Premium mouldings significantly reduce installation time.

What is LightGuard technology all about?

LightGuard® technology is our patented and innovative solution developed for light strips. Profiles having the technology have been refined with special compounds that thicken the structure of the strip. Thanks to this, the LED strip, glued directly to the wall of the strip, does not give the effect of translucent LEDs, and the light is perfectly diffused around the strip.

How to clean and care for the slats?

Mardom Decor mouldings do not require any special maintenance. Dust can be removed with a broom or vacuum cleaner, using a clean soft bristle tip.

For standard mouldings, the wet cleaning method depends on the paint used by the customer. If it was a washable paint, the mouldings can be cleaned in the same way as the walls.

In the case of the Mardom Decor Premium line, the mouldings can be cleaned with a damp cloth using water or alcohol-free cleaning agents.

Are the slats resistant to yellowing?

Yes, Mardom Decor mouldings are resistant to yellowing. In the production process we use special components that eliminate the risk of the mouldings turning yellow. Additional protection will be provided by painting the mouldings with any water-based paint after gluing them to the wall. Mardom Decor Premium mouldings are also resistant to yellowing and do not require additional paint.

Are the slats waterproof?

Yes, Mardom Decor mouldings are waterproof. They can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and rooms with high humidity. The mouldings do not react with water, so they do not swell, delaminate or change shape or appearance (like, for example, MDF mouldings). When installing mouldings in bathrooms, we recommend painting them with water-based paint designed for this type of rooms.

Where can I buy Mardom Decor mouldings and stucco?

You can buy Mardom Decor mouldings in partner showrooms throughout Poland and online stores. We have distributors in every province and in most cities. You can find a full list of stationary stores HERE. If you want to check the quality and designs of the mouldings without leaving home, you can order free samples with delivery to your door! On the card of each product you will find an ORDER SAMPLE button. You can order any 5 samples of the mouldings at a time.

Do the slats need to be painted?

Mardom Decor Premium skirting boards do not require painting. They are prepared for direct installation – just glue them to the wall.

Mouldings in the standard version are recommended to be painted after installation with any water-based paint (without solvents). Although a freshly manufactured molding is perfectly white and smooth, painting it with a washable water-based paint will further protect the surface and allow it to be cleaned repeatedly.

How much slat stock to order?

We suggest you take a 5% provision to the ordered length of the slats.

What is the distance between the curtain rails?

The distance between the inner edges of the curtain rails is 43 mm.

How do you connect curtain rods at 90 degrees?

A curtain arch is used to connect curtain rails on perpendicular sections of wall.

Hook-safety pins or hook-clips - which to choose?

Both solutions have their supporters, but to help you decide, here are the basic differences:

HOOK-SAFETY PIN:

– it is necessary to detach the fabric from the jabots before washing
– can be used on any fabric, even those without a special hem or tape.
– may be visible, but this is not an issue if you use a special curtain rod cover.
– it is difficult to make decorative creases with them

HOOK-CLIP:

– it is not necessary to detach safety pins from the fabric when washing (curtains and drapes can be washed with safety pins attached).
– the fabric to be assembled must have a special tape with which to hook the safety pins
– completely invisible (behind the fabric)
– perfect for creating decorative creases in the fabric

How many hook-safety pins/hook-clips do I need?

It is assumed that you need 1 frog or safety pin per 10 cm of curtain rod. In our curtain rod sets, however, we have added a certain allowance so that you are sure to have enough of everything. For example:

-> for a 200 cm long curtain rail, you will receive 25 safety pins or clips
-> for a 100 cm long curtain track, you will receive 13 safety pins or clips.

What is the curtain rod made of?

Mardom Decor curtain rails are made of aluminium, powder-coated in white. Their appearance is very minimalist and modern, making them completely unobtrusive. However, if you want to hide them, you can use a curtain rail bezel.

How heavy can the fabric be hung?

It is assumed that the maximum load on the curtain rail should not exceed 8 kg per running metre of curtain rail.

Which solution should I choose for a non-standard curtain rod length, e.g. 3.5 metres?

We recommend the use of 2 rails with a length of 2m. Cut 0.5 m from one rail and connect with a connector to obtain a 3.5 m long rail.

Can curtain rods be installed in the bathroom?

It is not recommended to install in areas where the rail may come into direct contact with water.

Can curtain rods be installed outdoors?

This product is intended for indoor use, so we do not recommend outdoor installation.

How do you install curtain rods on different types of ceilings?

Depending on the substrate, different installation dowels should be used – our dowels in the set are suitable for the following substrate types:

  • Concrete
  • Solid bricks
  • Full silicate blocks
  • Aerated concrete
  • ceramic hollow blocks
  • Silicate blocks
  • Gypsum board
  • Fibre-reinforced gypsum plasterboard and plasterboard
  • Lightweight concrete blocks
  • Cavity block and concrete ceilings or similar
  • Natural stone
  • Particle boards
  • Solid gypsum boards

How to finish the laths on the edges?

Each lamella pattern has a dedicated termination – left and right. After creating a complete pattern on the wall, consisting of several connected lamellas, the whole structure is finished with a dedicated termination – left on the left and right on the right.

Can white laths be painted?

Yes, white laths are recommended to be painted in any color using water-based paint (without solvents).

Do the laths have a soundproofing function?

Yes, the laths have a beneficial effect on the acoustics in the interior. They provide a sound reduction and echo elimination effect.

Are the laths waterproof?

Yes, the laths are waterproof, so they can be installed in bathrooms, kitchens and rooms with high humidity.

What to finish the laths at the floor?

For black slats we have a dedicated black MD359B trim. For white slats, we recommend finishing with a white MD359, MD014 or other trim, the depth of which is similar to that of the slats. However, it is not necessary to use a skirting board – the slats can reach all the way to the floor.

With what to glue the laths to the wall?

For mounting the lamellas on a clean, smooth, dry and painted wall, we recommend Mardom Fix Pro mounting adhesive. For mounting the lamellas on rough, slippery and difficult surfaces, we recommend Mardom Max glue.

Are the laths manufactured in Poland?

Yes, laths are products made entirely in Poland at our factory in Lodz. We do not use ready-made semi-finished products or designs imported from abroad, nor do we outsource manufacturing to other countries. We handle both the design of Lamella and the production process itself. The production of the wall panels takes place entirely in Poland.

Can laths be mounted outdoors?

Wall panels are wall decorations created for the design of indoor spaces. We do not recommend installing them outdoors.

Is the wooden pattern on the slats made of real wood?

No, the wooden pattern on the panels is an embossed lamination. The lamellas have a special structured embossing coating, thanks to which the wood pattern perfectly coincides with the grooves in the material. This gives the panels a unique oak texture.

Do black laths need to be painted?

Black fins do not need to be additionally covered with paint. Already at the stage of production they were protected from external influences such as mechanical damage, water or UV light. After purchase, the panels are immediately ready for installation.

What are Mardom Decor wall panels made of?

Mardom Decor wall panels are made from PolyForce – an eco-friendly and incredibly damage-resistant high density material. PolyForce is a non-waterproof material, so the panels can be installed in wet rooms such as bathrooms or kitchens. The material can also be painted any colour using water-based paint.

Where can wall panels be installed?

The primary purpose of wall panels comes down to decorating walls. However, Mardom Decor panels can also be successfully used on other surfaces. They are perfect as kitchen island casings, bed headboards, TV walls or furniture fronts.

How do you paint wall panels?

Spray-painting has the best effect. This avoids the risk of leaving roller or brush marks. We use water-based, solvent-free paint for painting the panels.

How do I install the rosette?

Assembly is extremely simple. The escutcheons are made of lightweight polyurethane foam, so they can easily be installed with mounting glue. Make sure the surface is dry and degreased. All you need to do now is apply mounting glue to the surfaces to be glued and press the rosette firmly onto the wall or ceiling. The gaps between the rosette and the glued surface can be treated either with Fix pro adhesive or with a putty such as Mardom Decor product.

Is there room for an electrical cable in rosette?

Yes, some of our rosettes have a hollow space between the glued surface and the walls of the rosette. In the MD catalogue, such rosettes are specially marked.

Can a chandelier cover be fitted to a rosette?

Yes, some of our rosettes, due to their shape, have the possibility of fitting a cover. In the MD catalogue such escutcheons are specially marked.

What glue should I use for installation?

For the installation of Mardom Decor mouldings we have 3 dedicated adhesives:

MARDOM FIX PRO – mounting adhesive, is used to glue all types of mouldings to the wall and to the ceiling. It can also be used to glue joints between mouldings made of PolyForce®.

MARDOM MAX – mounting, hybrid, polymer adhesive with maximum bonding strength and lightning fast grabbing speed – in as little as 8 seconds! Dedicated to use on problematic surfaces. It is used to glue all types of mouldings to the wall and ceiling.

MARDOM FIX EXTRA – glue used for joining and grouting strips made of ProFoam®.

How to prepare the surface before installing the mouldings?

The surface should be dry, dust-free and degreased. In the case of crumbling walls, they should be primed first.

What paints can be used to paint the mouldings?

The mouldings can be painted with any water-based paints (without solvents). It is worth using washable paints, as their properties will allow the slats to be washed wet repeatedly.

How to repair minor surface damage?

Minor damage on the surface of the molding can be corrected with Mardom Decor joint compound. The compound is very malleable and easily sanded after drying. This allows you to fill in all cavities and level the layer of compound with the surface of the molding.

What tool to paint the mouldings with?

The selection of a trim painting tool should be tailored to the shape of the trim and the skill or preference of the installer. Our customers use rollers, sponges, brushes or spray painting. Any of these tools will produce the desired effect – provided water-based paint is used and basic painting principles are followed, such as applying a thin layer of paint.

How do you finish the joints between the mouldings for premium skirting boards?

If you want to perfectly finish the joints between premium skirting boards, use the satin joint masking varnish. The 50 ml bottle is very efficient and is enough to cover several hundred meters of stucco. Apply the product with a thin brush directly on the joints and leave it to dry completely.

Should flex trim be painted before or after installation?

We paint flex mouldings only after they are glued to the wall. When the molding is firmly and permanently attached to the surface, you can apply paint to it. This will avoid the risk of cracking the paint layer on the surface of the molding.

Can curtain slats be mounted on pegs?

Yes, curtain mouldings can be mounted on pin with crew. This makes sense especially in the case of a very uneven ceiling, when the molding does not adhere perfectly to the surface at all points.

Can the slats be glued to glass, metal or any other non-standard surface?

Yes. In such a situation, it is advisable to use an adhesive with very high bonding strength – Mardom MAX.

How Profoam profiles are connected to each other?

ProFoam profiles are joined using Fix Extra adhesive only. Apply the glue to the entire side surface of the profile and press the ends together, leaving a gap of at least 1 mm to allow the glue to spread over the entire surface. Remove/remove any excess glue that may have fallen out as a result of pressing the profiles together. The glue on the joints should be left to dry for 24 hours. After this time, the surfaces of the moulding should be cleaned of any glue (which may have dripped out onto the top of the profile during the drying process) using an assembler’s knife, spatula, or sandpaper. After the pre-treatment, when the adhesive has fully hardened, the joint can be finished with Mardom Decor compound.

How to install ProFoam decorative elements?

Fix rosettes and other ProFoam decorative elements to the surface to be bonded using Fix Pro for standard surfaces or Mardom Max for low-porosity surfaces such as mirrors. The adhesive should be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the dec element to be glued.

Can ProFoam profiles be illuminated with leds?

If you wish to illuminate the ProFoam profiles with led lighting, you must glue the left/rear part of the profile with MD AluTape. Due to the difficulty of the work, we recommend gluing the profiles in place before mounting them on the wall.
